SERVICES FOR FOREST MANAGERS
I was a salaried Forest Manager for ten years, first with a national forest management company and then with a national firm of land agents. During this time I managed commercial woodlands, estate woodlands, small private woodlands, farm woodlands and crofter schemes.
My clients deserved the best possible service and this meant ensuring that work was done safely, on time, to the correct standard and within the agreed budget.
Internal targets also had to be met. There were new business opportunities to be developed, a large workload to be managed and the requirements of internal systems to consider: a situation that will be familiar to many forest managers and consultants.
I felt that I would have been more productive in my role were I able to subcontract elements of my work to a competent forester who I could trust to work in a speedy, safe and diligent manner. Someone who could provide meaningful and accurate data in a modern format that I could incorporate into my own systems and who could work within my client's budgetary constraints.
Now that I am self-employed, I feel able to offer these services and more to forest managers, forestry consultants, land agents and anybody else involved in the management of trees, woodlands, and forests.

I will work to an agreed fixed price in many circumstances to provide you with the confidence to expect that projects will be delivered in accordance with cash flows and budgets that you may have already issued to your client.
Where fixed pricing is not possible, I provide accurate and realistic estimates.
I hold public liability insurance (£5 million), employee liability insurance (£10 million) and professional indemnity cover (£1 million).
My work is risk-assessed, I implement a lone-working policy, and I have my own company safety policy.
I am flexible and can do anything from a one-off job or map to a complete programme of works or project.
I am competent with computers, mobile technology, digital calipers and other forms of information technology commonly used for gathering data in the field. This allows me to supply accurate results in digital formats that include ESRI-compatible shape files, spreadsheets, text documents, comma delimited text files, databases and more. My surveys and reports are supported by digital photography and video clips whenever required.
I am experienced and competent in most areas of forest management.
