Mellness forest
Mellness Forest is located near Cannich, Inverness-shire.
The forest is clearfelled and the site is ready to restock, but it will be left fallow until 2028.
I am looking for a supplier to mound the bare land, possibly also with some informal track work for later access to the coupes. This cultivation and preparation work must be finished before the end of February 2028.
I prefer that the cultivation work is concluded between September and November 2027, rather than left until early 2028.
I am also looking for somebody to plant the site from the start of March 2028. This will be planting in mounds, plus unloading tree deliveries and tree layout.
Work quantities are approximately 39 hectares of mounding and 93,000 trees to plant.
The work is a few years away at the time of writing, so interested suppliers may wish to contact me closer to the time. I expect to start looking for prices and finalising the arrangements around the first quarter of 2027.

Balmore Wood
Balmore Wood is located near Cannich, Inverness-shire.
The forest is being clearfelled in the first half of 2025 and I am looking for a supplier for the post-felling fence replacement work, restock mounding work and subsequent planting work.
Work quantities are approximately 29.3 hectares of mounding; planting 70,000 trees; 3273 metres of deer fence stripping and replacement; 456 metres of simple post and wire stock-height fencing.
The fence and cultivation work should be available as soon as the felling is complete (estimated September 2025). I have been instructed to replant the forest starting early March 2025, so these jobs must be finished by then. The planting contractor should be ready to start in March 2025.

I am currently working on a couple of woodland creation and natural regeneration projects close to Inverness. The work probably won’t be available to around 2027, maybe mid 2026, at which time I will post the details here.

I am particularly interested to hear from fence contractors who are willing to do the smaller jobs, such as spending a few days on emergency repairs now and then. This could suit someone who is less keen on the large fence jobs and is happy to do the gnarly stuff on a day rate.
